READ: Balitang may kinikilingan, Balitang may pino-protektahan, na-monitor ng isang retired journo!

A professional basketball player knows if there is a foul in a certain play. He knows it if there is a violation of the rules or at least somebody tries to cheat the game. That actually applies to pretty much every profession. If you are a chef, you know what ingredients were used to cook a certain food and you know if a person cheated on the process of cooking it. That is what we called experience. That same logic made a veteran journo think twice about the credibility of GMA 7. A media giant who pride themselves with the tag line: “walang kinikilingan, walang pino-protektahan, serbisyong totoo lang!” Jay Sonza, a retired journalist and well experienced news man posted his disappointment towards GMA in his Facebook page. Saying that he thought, ABS-CBN is the only unprofessional media network in the country but he realized that GMA is even worse. according to him, he was jumping through news channels to monitor on how these media giants will treat the news about the dism...

Former PBB Housemate Transfers Network and Will Be Part of Gma-7’s New Romcom Series

Image
There have been quite a few people who decided to leave ABS-CBN for something new. First was journalist Atom Araullo, followed by Jason Abalos. Now, a former “Pinoy Big Brother” housemate has also decided to leave ABS CBN and become a part of GMA-7’s new series, “The One That Got Away.” This former housemate is Jason Francisco who lived in the famous yellow house back in 2009 for “Pinoy Big Brother Season 3: Double Up.” He met his future wife, Melai Cantiveros, on the same network. But it seems as though Jason figured it would be best for him to move to GMA-7. Another actress, Alessandra de Rossi spoke about the reality of network transfers. The “Kita Kita” leading star said that in a network that handles hundreds of stars with limited project offerings, it is easy to overlook a talent or put an actor in the backseat for a while to give way to new stars. Because their jobs are their bread and butter, an actor needs to find work elsewhere, especially if they have a pro...

Oil price hike sobra na!

Image
“This is really too much for consumers who have endured almost 3 months of oil price hikes and this would be higher if the tax reform package would be approved,” reaksyon ni Zarate.< Isang patunay umano ang sunod-sunod na pagtaas ng presyo ng mga produktong petrolyo na bigo ang Downstream Oil Deregulation Act of 1998 sa layunin nito pero ayaw galawin ng gobyerno ang na...

September 30 target to free Marawi may not happen —AFP official

Image
Marawi City's complete liberation from pro-ISIS Maute terrorists is not going to happen on September 30, as Defense Chief Delfin Lorenzana had expected. The fierce war for Marawi that has raged for over four months may still drag on for 10 to 15 days, a dzBB report said Saturday. Quoting Western Mindanao Command chief Lieutenant General Carlito Galvez Jr, dzBB's Benjie Liwanag reporting from Marawi said troops in the war-torn city have expressed confidence they can end the battle in 10 to 15 days. However, government troops in the main war zone are having difficulties in battling holdover Maute terrorists, who spread themselves thinly within their main stronghold, Liwanag added. Security forces have focused their hunt for the enemies on small structures and narrow alleys within the Maute's shrinking area of control, the report said. Government forces have also reportedly found sacks containing nails, coins and various metals the terrorists use in making ...

The Ballad of Lonesome George, The Galapagos' Most Famous Tortoise

Image
Lonesome George is quite a character. He's a Pinta Island tortoise, and, as Brian noted when he visited a few years ago, he's the last of this breed. Yep, that means when he's gone, that's it -- his species will be lost to the world forever. That doesn't mean that all hope for him or his kind is lost, though. George wasn't feeling very frisky, or photogenic, on the day of our visit, so here's his backside. Photo credit: Collin Dunn He has a pretty swanky setup, as far as land tortoises in Galapagos National Park go. While the others are open to park visitors, subjects of hundreds or thousands of photos and interruptions a day, Lonesome George has his own pen, but he doesn't live alone. Two females, of a different but similar species, live in there with them, and the hope is that George and his special lady friends might produce some fertile eggs that would last to term, so George's bloodline will live on. One of the fema...

From a spider that looks like a wizard's hat to a bug with FOUR penises: Scientists reveal the top 10 new species of 2017

Image
From a spider that looks like the sorting hat in Harry Potter, to a deep sea worm that looks like a churro, researchers have revealed the top ten new species for 2017. The 10th annual list also includes a pink insect that bares a striking resemblance to a leaf, a tomato that appears to bleed when its cut, and a polka dot sting ray. During the decade since the first list was compiled in 2008, almost 200,000 new species have been discovered - but experts warn we risk not discovering many other species as extinction rates rise. The list, compiled by the State University of New York's College of Environmental Science's International Institute for Species Exploration (IISE), includes four species found in Asia (India, Indonesia, Laos and Malaysia). Others on the list come from Mexico, the US, Brazil, Colombia, Australia and Papua New Guinea. 'During the decade since our first Top 10 list, nearly 200,000 new species have been discovered and named. 'This would ...
