READ: Balitang may kinikilingan, Balitang may pino-protektahan, na-monitor ng isang retired journo!

A professional basketball player knows if there is a foul in a certain play. He knows it if there is a violation of the rules or at least somebody tries to cheat the game. That actually applies to pretty much every profession. If you are a chef, you know what ingredients were used to cook a certain food and you know if a person cheated on the process of cooking it. That is what we called experience.

That same logic made a veteran journo think twice about the credibility of GMA 7. A media giant who pride themselves with the tag line: “walang kinikilingan, walang pino-protektahan, serbisyong totoo lang!”

Jay Sonza, a retired journalist and well experienced news man posted his disappointment towards GMA in his Facebook page. Saying that he thought, ABS-CBN is the only unprofessional media network in the country but he realized that GMA is even worse.

according to him, he was jumping through news channels to monitor on how these media giants will treat the news about the dismissal of Ilo-ilo City Mayor Jed Mabilog. To his surprise, when he was watching a news program on GMA hosted by Vicky Morales, they only give few second exposure on the statement of Justice Sec. Vit Aguirre, which has a bigger role in the entire story and here is what made Sonza really disappointed with the “Kapuso” Network, they gave a much longer time for the Liberal Party members who are defending their party-mates (Sen. Franklin Drilon and Mar Roxas) who are being linked to Mabilog’s drug syndicate.

gma devoted less than one minute to the Aguirre report and spend more than 5 minutes for the liberal party story, complete with character generated text of their statement.
any professional news manager, producer and writer can immediately notice the disparity as to the objectivity and fairness and balance news presentation.
but that is not my point. the point is – the liberal party has nothing to do with the Aguirre statement. therefore, malinaw na sinalsal nila ng husto ang balita ng walang kakuwenta-kuwenta. napaka-unprofessional.

and yet they pride themselves as award winning news program and anchor persons. what a shame to the profession.

I pity Vicky morales and the pampangueno reporter who voiced the report using the same script in their succeeding news programs. Where they forced to perform. I don’t believe they will do it, given the option.
